garden, garden

Last weekend, the winter garden was pulled up and the spring garden was planted.

By pulling up the fava beans, the leeks were discovered!
Some of them were starting to make flowers, so we knew it was time for them to come up as well.   Along with the leek harvest, the sugar snap peas and fava beans also came up.
Ah!  This is the reason it smells so good to come home.
I was delighted to see our apple tree has flowered!  I don't know what it is - but apple flowers just make me giddy.
Finally, the spring garden was mostly planted.  More carrots, leeks, and sugar snap peas.  Lemon and straight cucumbers (those are in the diatomaceous earth island)  Lettuce and soy beans are in the pots on the deck.  All of these came up from seed.  We also added some bought bell pepper, Spanish pepper, and Serrano chili pepper seedlings.  Tomatoes, zucchini, basil, and garlic are still awaiting planting in the big wooden planter by the beehive.  Just ran out of time!
